Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is a American TV reporter, journalist anchor and commentator for NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language from University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell was employed as a reporter at KYW Radio and TV Philadelphia in 1967. She was a reporter for the CBS station WDVM-TV (then WTOP) in Washington DC in 1976. Then she joined NBC News Washington two years after that as a general reporter. In 1981 began covering the White House and became chief of the congressional reporter in 1988. She was named Chief White House correspondent in 1992 as well as chief foreign reporter for NBC News in 1994. Mitchell was a guest in the TV news show Meet the Press as a panelist and host. She served as a panelist during the 1988 presidential debates with George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan who was former chairman at Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received in 2005 her Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in The John F. Kennedy School of Government. And in 2004, Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA), honored Mitchell for her contribution to the cause of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was the very first reporter to cover White House stories for NBC News during Ronald Reagan's tenure in office from 1981 to 1988. She reported on a variety of notable stories, including arms control the budget tax reform, and the Iran-contra scandal and traveled extensively with President Reagan to meetings with Mikhail Gorbachev and other world leaders.
